Principal research interests:
Fossil and modern corals and reefs, middle Palaeozoic biostratigraphy and
the geology of Queensland.
Current Projects :
Palaeozoic coral studies. Stratigraphy and geological evolution of North
Queensland. Silurian, Devonian, and Carboniferous biostratigraphy (with
G. Playford, UQ Department of Earth Sciences, and J.A. Talent and R. Mawson,
Macquarie University).
Coral reef studies: Lagoonal development and sedimentation in the reefs
of the Capricorn-Bunker Group;
Groundwater geochemistry and lithification on Heron Island;
Cryptic microbialite in reef rock and beach rock, Heron Island;
Foraminiferans/Low Isles;
Petrology and diagenesis of insular phosphate rock on a coral cay - Raine
Island, northern Great Barrier Reef (with E. Frankel, University of Technology
Sydney and G. Webb, QUT Department of Earth Sciences).
Geomorphic studies on Herald Cay (Coral Sea) and Raine Island (with D. Niel,
UQ Department of Geographical Sciences and Planning). |
